Weather - 1 degree, blue sky and still at 06:20hrs

Lovely run from both horses yesterday........ 2nd and 4th

Helfire 2nd yesterday......at last a good draw and back over the mile at Lingfield.  She traveled well through the race but they were not good enough to give her a lead home and Charlie Bennett had to commit by going to the lead just under 2f out.  As she went further and further away from the field there was one, Clement coming out of the pack being rousted along by Luke Morris like he had the 'bogeyman' chasing him!  Could not believe we got caught on the last stride, beaten a head and it was 3 3/4 lengths back to the third horse!  Nevertheless, it was a super run.  Well done Team.

This was two strides before the finish line!  Helfire in yellow and red.

Zefferino - 4th yesterday.   He ran in the following race to Helfire over 7f, a furlong further than his good run last time out in an amateur race.  A poor draw yesterday did not help his cause having to sit out the back ..... some would say why did he not push him to the front around the field...... this would have been disastrous as he would have gone too free with choke out and have nothing for the finish!  As it turned out he traveled well through the race and only became a little flat footed when asked to accelerate into the next gear on the downhill bend.  Once he got balanced he ran all the way to the line looking like a horse that wants further..... However, he has a huge stride and when he learns how to use the stride and breath (which he is now doing) we will have some fun.  Tom Marquand liked him a lot, 7f max distance at the moment and said that he would be great to ride on a straight course whereby he can use that big stride.  Looking forward to his next run on the turf.
