Thursday 6th June 2019

A good class of race yesterday with 8 yr old Exceeding Power taking on some talented youngsters. However, he was not going to worry about them being younger! He is like a well bred terrier and doesn't like to give up.... At Kempton last night we thought we had a reasonably good draw, 7 of 12 but on leaving the stalls we ended up being six wide going into the first two furlongs, a sprint race for the lead and we got caught up in it...there was nothing we could do but shuffle back to eighth. Still travelling well 3 out, the inside had no room so the option was the outside route and as we made our move, looking like being placed we got caught in a sandwich! With the energy used up in the first two furlongs our stamina ran out inside the final furlong and a half.

He has now gone up 18lb since June 2017, remarkable for an older horse. The handicapper will hopefully give him a lighter load for his next outing.
