A week to build on but some good positive runs too.
Sennen walking around paddock before his win in the Barrier Trial pre his debut official race last Monday at Wolverhampton
We started the week with Sennen having his debut on a racecourse at Wolverhampton. He had the widest draw from the 7f shoot and although a good break from the stalls he was unable to tac over to the rail. His jockey Richard Kingscote had to sit and suffer going too free (choke out) on the wide outside and within the next furlong moved into the second position. In the final two furlongs he came under pressure with horses coming around him and weakened over one furlong out. His distance looks more like 6f and with more experience we should be seeing him in the winner’s enclosure before long. He did actually win his Barrier Trial over 6f at Lingfield in good style in the previous week!
Zefferino who finished 6th ran no race at all on Friday at Chelmsford with George Wood back on board. No particular reason for his disappointing run but the surface kick back was horrendous and was only suiting handy placed horses all day. Zefferino has to be held up off the pace and with horses stopping in front of him he was getting further behind the leaders! A race to put behind us.
Zefferino too far back (yellow/blue with two horses behind him) with 3 slow horses stopping his run with what looks like a sand storm around them!
Last night Hurcle was unplaced and Nawar was 4th at Wolverhampton. Hurcle ran in snatches and weakened 2 out when the pace quickened turning in. No explanations yet. Nawar 4th had a very rough race with the winner and the third placed horse stopping him in his challenging run in the final furlong. The jockey on the third placed horse received a 3 day ban for two incidents to Nawar but the placings remained unaltered! A very strange outcome. At the end of the day Nawar ran well and seems fine today.
