After a fantastic start to the week with a winner and second we were hoping Exceeding Power could put the icing on the cake yesterday at Chelmsford but realistically it was a big ask. Yesterday he had top weight of 10st, a trip that was to stretch his stamina (1m5f) and a track that he has struggled to get his head in front. The pace was steady for the first three furlongs and then the lead horse (winner) increased the pace. Four furlongs out we are going as well as the winner, three out we are starting to look for another gear but still in a good position. Two out our stamina was running out but still close to the second and third horse. In the final furlong George Wood eased down on him finishing 4th of the four runners. The winner looks decent and was getting a stone and one pound off us! Looking forward to seeing Exceeding Power back at Kempton in October, the only suitable race for him due to being rated 90 and an all weather horse for southern tracks.
