Champion Chase ready to go to battle!

Tomorrow Champion Chase goes back to Plumpton with Will Kennedy on board.  Will have his ground and looking forward to an improved run on a track that he does have some sound form on.  Good luck Team.

No placings from runners last week but work in progress.....

Nawar was 6th having his debut for us yesterday at Wolverhampton over 1m 142yds, the furthest he had raced to date.  This was a novice race with level weights for geldings or colts and fillies having a 5lb allowance.  Only two horses had handicap marks due to having run in three or more races;  Nawar (five runs) rated 72, Sarasota (four runs) rated 68 and claiming the fillies 5lb allowance.  In the race Nawar did get a heavy bump in the first furlong from the winner which did not help our cause to tuck in behind the leaders.  There was a strong head wind and we could not get any cover throughout the race.  He was ridden 3 out on the outside of the leaders, hard ridden 2 out and weakened inside the final furlong.  Nawar (72) finished 6th of 10 runners, giving 5lb away to the fourth placed Sarasota (68) who finished 1 1/2 lengths in front of us......the first three placed horses will be most probably rated in the 80's.  We have to take into account being wide in the strong winds and his first run for four months.  Looking forward to seeing him in a handicap in due course....

Nawar finishing 6th of 10 runners at Wolverhampton yesterday

Nawar in the paddock with George Wood being 'legged-up'.

Helfire ran Friday at Lingfield, her first run since having a wind operation.  She traveled reasonably well in her race but looked to be a little flat footed in the final two furlongs against speedier rivals.  She was only beaten 2 1/2 lengths.  On the plus side she needed the race not only for confidence but fitness - fit at home but she does normally need a run or two to be at her best.  Has entries next week and following.  Encouraging run with more to work on.

Ask Jilly ran at Wincanton in a novice hurdle at 200-1.  According to the betting she had no chance with the opposition.... however four out we started to get excited when sat in third traveling very well and still traveling three out but in a matter of strides lost her handy position.   She finished the race beating one horse home.  She was fine after the race but we have some examinations to do this coming week with our vet.  Looking forward to her running in handicaps.
