Saturday 2nd January 2021

We had a quiet Christmas and the New Year started in a very explosive manner with lots of sparkling colours in the sky!! Fireworks maybe amazing to see but they are getting louder making life difficult for anyone looking after animals. So annoying that people have no consideration for animals in their area..... should be displays only..... at least animal carers could prepare knowing what time the bombs and screachers are going off on which days!

Before Christmas we ran Nawar at Lingfield, up in grade and over two furlongs further than his win last time out. We were confident of him staying and so he did, one paced in the final furlong finishing 5th. Unfortunately we ended up too far back due to a blistering early pace and we feel this scuppered our chances of finishing 3rd or 4th. He also got struck into, going into the first bend and this could quite easily have affected him?! Nether the less he still ran a good race in a good competitive grade. The handicapper has left him on his same mark of 73.

Champion Chase ran on New Years Eve at Warwick with 14 runners over fences. Jamie Moore who rode him stretched the field out in the first two furlongs. He jumped well until tiring and by the time he got to two out the early fast pace was starting to take effect with the fuel going to empty very quickly. Going to the last we were all hoping he could hang on for third but not to be ......he ended up 6th of 14 which was not to be coughed at especially on gruelling ground
