In this section, we briefly outline options of ownership. If you would like a more detailed explanation of how to get into racehorse ownership, click here.

As well as enjoying some great days out at the races and a glass or two of celebratory bubbles, our owners are always welcome at the stables, where they can see their horses enjoy all aspects of training; from schooling in the indoor school, working on the gallops, schooling through the starting stalls for the flat horses or schooling over the easyfix hurdles, traditional hurdles or the purpose-built steeplechase fences for the national hunt horses.

Routes to Ownership

There are two main routes into ownership.

A Sole Owner owns a horse outright, takes responsibility for all the training and racing costs and collects the owner's share of the prize money.

A Co-Owner shares the costs and the prize money with a group of racing enthusiasts through Weatherbys/BHA, the administrative bodies of horseracing.  This is an increasingly popular form of ownership which can be arranged as a racing partnership, with all members becoming registered owners or a syndicate whereby there is one registered owner (the syndicator) and the remaining members still benefit from the perks of horse racing ownership. We offer attractive opportunities for both types of ownership.

Purchasing Your Horse

Why not discuss with Martin some options of purchasing - 90% of the horses he has bought for current owners have won or been placed. At Martin Bosley Racing we do not charge a fee for purchasing horses.  Agents are available but do charge a fee from 2% to 8% of purchase price.

Sponsorship and VAT - Martin Bosley has a sponsorship scheme for the stables which our owners are entitled to join.  The sponsorship scheme allows owners to reclaim VAT on their racing related expenses.  Owners need to register for VAT through Weatherbys/BHA in return for securing the sponsorship deal.

What Our Owners Say

Racing Manager - Jim Hazeldine

"We have now been involved with Martin and Sarah for a good few years and been seriously fortunate as owners with a horse that has been really successful. So much of that success is down to Martin, Sarah and their team. Above all Martin and Sarah are "horse people", they have ridden successfully before becoming trainers. They are prepared to give horses time but, over and above that, they quickly get to understand any problem with a horse and take time to get the best out of that animal. Another huge plus is that the yard is fun to be around and be part of. We now look to an exciting future with them."

Jan Williams - Member of The Chalfonts

I would like to express my appreciation to Sarah and Martin of Martin Bosley Racing for the exciting five years we have shared with Exceeding Power, (Max). In over half of his races he has entered the Winner's Enclosure. Long may it continue for Max, The Chalfonts and Team Bosley.

Their knowledge and experience of horses, from foaling, gently breaking in and training youngsters, to their continued development over the years is second to none. The collaboration with other disciplines can only benefit the wellbeing of any horse under their care.

To quote Sarah, twice Lady Champion Jockey, "Max will tell us when he is ready".

David Cramm and Tom Campagne

"Thank you for your hospitality on Tuesday. Tom and I had an interesting day.  We were pleased to see Nathan Dee working willingly and we appreciate the work that you are doing with him including his back treatment.  He did seem a lot happier and settled getting into your new routines, which hopefully will bear fruits going forward."

Blowingstone Partnership and Girls on Top

"All the horses are relaxed and happy and each receive individual attention.  At Martin Bosley Racing there is a family atmosphere and great hospitality combined with a focused and professional team.  The members have enjoyed some great days at the races and nights out with the team!" M. Smith

De Bugar Partnership
"Martin gets the best from his horses and no stone is left unturned in the preparation of them for the races.   The entire team have a good understanding of all their horses and we are always made so welcome at Martin Bosley Racing and feel part of the team."  C. Edgecombe

Inca Financial Services

"The prospect of ownership and choosing a trainer can be quite daunting, but I was encouraged by the welcoming and friendly atmosphere from everyone in the yard.  Qobtaan's first win was an incredible feeling of excitement, especially after the journey we all experienced to get there.  It was a great training performance and the three successive wins simply put the cream on the cake".  G. Sue Morris

To all at Bowstridge - Many thanks for a great afternoon - even the horses seemed to be enjoying the party!

Ian & Rebecca Stephenson

What a great afternoon, just sorry did not have the chance to chat to more people.  I thought the individual horse reports on the doors were excellent. I only wish Sarah could have written my school reports when I was a young tearaway!  I think the yard is a credit to the dedication and hard work you have both put in and the fact that your staff are very happy there means it is only a matter of time before ........................ fingers crossed for an excuse to drink the rest of the wine!

The Chalfonts
An amazing two years.....
"The Chalfonts" would like to register our thanks and appreciation for what you, and the team, have achieved with our two horses, Exceeding Power and Named Asset.  You made the process of forming the syndicate so easy, from you buying the horses on our behalf, organising our racing colours, arranging for banking and VAT services with Weatherbys etc., and then bringing the horses on to give us plenty of racing.  During that time we've had numerous places, including three wins but without exception we've always had a real "shout" during the races.  Both of you have always taken time to explain exactly what is happening to the horses and why, both at home and at the course. On top of this visiting the stables on a regular basis to keep up to date with their progress and to see them on the gallops has been a huge part of the overall racing experience.
