Makarim (Mak) recently retired with us, was an interesting horse whilst in training. He had more than his fair share of problems but managed to win six races for us during 2000-2006. Mak was bought by Martin for just £1,200 having proved a disappointment for his previous handler. Since then Mak's winnings have exceeded £40,000 -- a reflection of the success that is achievable at Martin Bosley Racing.

Mak also played a pivotal role in launching George Baker's career, now a leading flat jockey, when the pair struck up a winning relationship with Mak completing a four time winning sequence, three times under George. Sadly Mak lost the sight in one eye during the later part of his racing career, but he still managed to steal victory, even with this disadvantage. Mak is now enjoying retirement in the field as a companion for one of the broodmares.
